I will be starting the walk from Chamonix to Zermatt on Sunday 23rd August walking from Chamonix to Argentiere in the afternoon, a nice short walk of just over 5 miles to get into the mood. After that it will get a little harder. Not carrying any tent, cooking gear or food as I did on the Haute Route Pyrenees so my pack should be significantly lighter. Hopefully, I am fit although still recovering from a cold that I caught three weeks ago.
I was reminded to write a blog again having remembered that at least one person read my blog on the Haute Route Pyrenees, as I met him and his partner on Day 5 and continued to meet up over a period of about three weeks. I also spent some of the first few days walking with two Australians, Ray and Stephen but never saw them again after Day 6 and unfortunately had no contact details although I left them a postcard at Lescun. Memories of sleeping in a Monastery dormitory with some 120 beds at Roncevalles.
Hopefully the Walker's Haute Route will prove equally memorable.
